Detroit Lions at Pittsburgh Steelers NFL Free Pick

Detroit Lions (-2.5) @ Pittsburgh Steelers – NFL Free Pick   Why the Lions Will Cover   They have two of the most dynamic offensive threats in the game today.   Rarely has any defense been able to slow either Calvin Johnson or Reggie Bush this season, much less both of them – which may be necessary if the Steelers are to have any hope in this one.   In just nine games, this duo has combined for nearly 1,900 yards and 13 TGs – ridiculous totals so far. And while the Steelers do possess a solid pass defense, they don’t have anyone who can match Johnson’s athleticism and size. And if perchance he’s covered, Bush is the second leading receiver on the team and can break some ankles on some short tosses.  Matthew Stafford has done a really nice job of minimizing his mistakes this year with only 7 INTs versus 19 touchdowns.  He is protected very well – only ten sacks – so he’ll have time to find his receivers.   The defense is facing a fairly weak offense and should be able to get to Ben Roethliesberger a few times – he’s already been dropped 35 times this season. Led by Ndamukong Suh and Nick Fairley, the Lions have allowed their last three opponents to combine for only 157 rushing yards as well.  Since Pittsburgh only averages 80 yards themselves, expect a lot of passing attempts to a weakened receiving corps.   Recent Trends:  5-3 ATS as the favorite this season 3-1 ATS as a road favorite this season 4-12  Pittsburgh ATS in their last 16 games...

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills NFL Preview

New York Jets at Buffalo Bills NFL Preview Why the Jets Will Cover The Jets have flip-flopped between a loss and a win for the entire season. They are due to win two in a row eventually, and might be catching the Bills at the right time. Buffalo will be missing their top two receivers as Stevie Johnson and Robert Woods are both out with injuries. This is great news for a Jets pass defense ranked 24th, allowing 251 yards per game. They sighed former All-Pro Ed Reed to bolster the sagging secondary, but don’t expect much from him on the field. Instead, don’t be shocked to see him act more as a coach/mentor for this young group. The staunch run defense should stuff the duo of CJ Spiller and Fred Jackson again – meaning the punchless passing game will try to dink and dunk, playing right into the Jets’ hands. The Jets beat the Bills in week three by relying on the deep pass, but won’t be as fortunate this week. The Bills secondary was crushed by injury back then and is healthy again. Look for Chris Ivory to continue on as the workhorse out of the backfield. The Bills are allowing nearly 118 rushing yards per game. If rookie QB Geno Smith can control his game and limit his mistakes, the offense should generate enough production to challenge again. Recent Trends: 4-1 ATS in their last 5 games on turf 3-2 ATS against Buffalo in the last 3 seasons 45-27 ATS against road division opponents since 1992 Why the Bills Will Cover They can run, will run,...
