College Football Free Picks – West Virginia vs Alabama 8/30/14

College Football Free Picks – West Virginia vs Alabama 8/30/14 Alabama comes into this game off a rare two game losing streak.  Saban has had to get his club re-focused and re-energized after being upset in back-to-back games to end the season last year.  Bama has loads of talent this year.  The main question mark coming the season is at QB.  However, that is a big question mark.  The Tide lost All-American QB AJ McCaron and two qb’s will get playing time this year, transfer Jake Coker and returning back-up Blake Sims.  The other question mark in our eyes is the hiring of new offensive coordinator Lane Kiffin.   USC offense sputtered under Kiffin last year with tons of talent around him.  How will he adapt this year to all this talent around him and will he be able to get the QB’s to play at a high-level?  The Tide have an incredible defense after only allowing 13.9-ppg and 4.8-ypp last year, they return 5 starters but are loaded with top talent returning.  The defense will always be the main focus point with Saban and he will demand a better performance this year.  We look for the Tide’s numbers to better this season as they are talented at every position.  The offense needs to step up.  It did average 38.2-ppg last year and 7.1-ypp but they did play Tennessee-Chattanooga and some of the bottom teams in the SEC.  West Virginia is in the 4th year under Dana Holgorsen and after a 4-8 record last season the alumni in Morgantown are not happy.  Holgorsen is supposed to be an offensive genius...

Free College Football Picks – Southern Mississippi at Mississippi State 8/30/14

Free College Football Picks – Southern Mississippi at Mississippi State 8/30/2014 This is a series that gets back into full swing for the first time since 1990.  These two teams have faced each other 14 times in their history and believe it or not the Golden Eagles are 10-4 straight up against the Rebels.  Did you know that in 2011 Southern Mississippi had a record of 12-2?  It’s hard to imagine because over the last two years they have gone 1-23 straight up and 6-18 against the spread.  With 16 starters returning we look for this team to definitely get at least two or three wins this season.  The offense needs to improve on their horrific 17.1-points per game and 4.6-yards per play average.  This is a tough match-up for them to open up the season improve on those averages. Mississippi State Head Coach Dan Mullen is in a big year for him. This is his 6th season and after a 7-6 year record in 2013 he is on the hot seat.  The good news is that he has 16 starters returning with his QB Dak Prescott back.  Mullen is an offensive minded coach and the Bulldogs need to improve on their 5.9-yards per play average and 27.7-ppg average.  The defensive will be solid this season as they only allowed 23.0-ppg and 5.5-ypp last year. For whatever reason Mississippi State is 0-7 ATS in August games since 1992. MISSISSIPPI ST is 7-0 ATS when they gain 550 or more total yards since 1992 and our projected stats say they will put up 585-yards. Southern Mississippi won’t be able to...

College Football Free Pick – Mississippi vs Boise State

College Football Free Pick: Mississippi vs Boise State (Game Played at the Georgia Dome) This is the first meeting ever between the two teams and it is the first time ever that Mississippi is playing at the Georgia Dome.  Ole Miss plays well on the road in openers as they are 6-0 since 1999.  Boise State will be breaking in a new coach in Bryan Harsin. He comes from Arkansas State and has several years of coaching experience as an offensive coordinator. The Rebels look primed and ready for a big year after coming off a 8-5 season in 2013.  They have 15 returning starters back and that has everyone excited in Oxford!  The offense is led by senior Bo Wallace.  He put up big numbers in ’13 and will expand on those this year. He is a potential pro-prospect that is very athletic.  He has a dynamite receiver to throw to in sophomore Laquon Treadwell.  Wallace has his top three WR’s back for this season.  Defensively, the Rebels return 9 starters from a team that allowed 23.7-ppg.  We look for those numbers to improve this season. Boise State has a rich tradition of being the ultimate over-achievers. They are breaking in a new HC as they said good-bye to the magician Chris Peterson who left for Washington.  What Boise State lacks in talent from the big-boys in the 6 major conferences, they make up for in heart.  The key for the Broncos this season will be their offense and the development of QB Grant Hedrick.  He needs to have a big year and we feel he will.  With...
