Arizona vs Washington – College Basketball Odds
Thursday, January 31, 2013
Arizona travels to Washington Thursday, January 31st. The game is scheduled to tip-off at 9:00 pm est on ESPN. The oddsmakers have made Arizona a 6 point favorite in this tough Pac-12 Conference showdown.
Arizona’s overall record is 17-2, Pac-12 record is 5-2, ATS overall is 9-8, ATS home is 5-4, and ATS away is 3-2.
Arizona is having a real good year and they are rated 8th in the nation right now. They have two super impressive wins this year against University of Miami and Florida. If the season ended today, both of those teams would receive number 2 or 3 seeds in the NCAA tournament.
Arizona’s two losses where to UCLA at home and conference leading Oregon, on the road. Losing to UCLA did not shock any of the experts, since both of these teams are considered legit final four contenders.
Oregon was undefeated in conference play (before losing last night) and they have also beaten UCLA, so maybe losing to them at their place was not as bad as it initially looked; only time will tell. This Arizona team is very talented, but whether they have enough to win it all, is doubtful.
What isn’t doubtful is that they have way more talent than Washington, and should easily win this game. But, all conference games are tough, and the ones on the road are especially difficult.
Arizona has way too much talent for Washington, and they just need to show up and play their normal game to come away with a victory. This team really wants to get a number 1 or 2 seed in the NCAA tournament, and to accomplish that, they cannot afford to lose any of these types of games.
Washington’s overall record is 12-8, Pac-12 record is 4-3, ATS overall is 10-8, ATS home is 4-5, and ATS away is 5-2.
Washington does not have the talent they have had the past few years, and are playing about as well as they can.
This team has lost three in a row, and two of them were to absolutely terrible teams Utah and Oregon State. Their coach, Lorenzo Romar who is a fairly decent coach, has to be jumping up and down with joy thinking about Arizona coming in as the team to end his losing streak with.
Washington’s leading scorer is a 6’-5” wing guard named C.J. Wilcox, and he averages 19 points and 5 rebounds a game. Scott Suggs is 6’-6”, and plays the 3 spot for them. He averages 12 points and 2 boards a game.
Abdul Gaddy is their 6’-3” point guard and he averages 11 points and 4 assist a game. Their center is Aziz N’Diaye and he is 7’-0” and weighs 260 pounds. He averages 10 points and 9 rebounds a game.
Lorenzo Romar has done an excellent job recruiting since he has been at Washington and has sent quite a few players into the NBA. But, this year’s team does not have a single player that is projected to play in the NBA.
His teams are known to push the ball up the court as quickly as possible, and to play moderately good defense. This season is getting away from them, and if they do not want it to turn into a total disaster, they need to stop their losing streak. This is a scrappy team that always plays under Romar and should give put up a good fight in this game.
