Kentucky vs Mississippi – College Basketball Free Pick

Kentucky vs Mississippi – College Basketball Free Pick Kentucky travels to Mississippi Tuesday January 29th.  The game is scheduled to tip-off at 9:00 pm est and the oddsmakers have made Mississippi a 3 point favorite. Kentucky Preview Kentucky is having an utterly dreadful year after last year’s NCAA championship season. This game is at Mississippi, and if ever they needed to come away with a win, it is this year, with this team. Kentucky’s overall record is 13-6, SEC record is 4-2, ATS overall is 6-10, ATS home is 4-5, and ATS away is 2-3. Kentucky is not losing because they do not have talent; in fact they have a ton of talent. Nerlens Noel, their 6’-10” power forward is project to be one of the first three players drafted in the NBA this year. Archie Goodwin, their 6’-5” wing guard should also be selected within the first 15 picks. If that was not enough, Willie Cauley Stein, their 7’-0” center is another player that is projected to be a first round draft choice. The truth of the matter is this team has not jelled and it is getting very average point guard play, from Ryan Harrow. Kentucky really does not have any good wins this year that it needs to ensure a NCAA tournament berth. If they do not turn this thing around right now, they are going to have to win the SEC tournament at the end of the year just to get into the NCAA tournament, which is embarrassing. Mississippi Preview Mississippi is 6-0 in SEC conference play and is in first place. Good for them,...

Pittsburgh vs Louisville – College Basketball Free Pick

Pittsburgh vs Louisville – College Basketball Free Pick Pittsburgh travels to Louisville Monday January 28th.  The game is scheduled to tip-off at 7:00 pm est and the oddsmakers have made Louisville a 6-point favorite. Louisville Preview What is going on with this Louisville team? They start the season 16-1 with their lone loss coming to a then undefeated Duke team and eventually reach the top spot in the polls, after Duke loses.  As soon as they reach number one, they immediately lose their next three conference games. Their first loss was to number 6 ranked Syracuse at home. Then they go on the road and lose to Villanova and Georgetown Louisville’s overall record is 16-4, Big East record is 4-3, ATS overall is 10-10, ATS home is 4-6, and ATS away is 4-2. In an earlier article we mentioned that Russ Smith, Louisville’s starting wing guard and leading scorer was a streak shooter, who could go really cold at times. Against Villanova, he went 2 for 13 from the field. Rick Pitino, Louisville’s head coach finally had enough of his erratic play, and did not start him against Georgetown. Louisville has three real good starters that could all end up in the NBA someday. They are Peyton Siva, a 6’-0” pass first point guard, Chane Behanan, a 6’-6” monster that plays power forward, and Gorgui Dieng, a 6’-11” shot blocking center. Losing to Syracuse is nothing to be ashamed of. But, if you want to win the Big East regular season title, you have to protect your home court and not lose on it. Villanova was not expected to...

Michigan Illinois Basketball Odds

Michigan Illinois Basketball Odds This Big Ten match-up between Michigan and Illinois will take place Sunday, January 27th and the oddsmakers have made Michigan a 6.5 point favorite. Michigan Preview Michigan’s overall record is 18-1, Big 10 record is 5-1, ATS overall is 10-6-1, ATS home is 5-4-1, and ATS away is 2-2. Michigan is doing exactly what was expected of them in the preseason. Which was to compete for a Big 10 regular season championship, have good shot at getting into the sweet sixteen, and if things were to fall right for them, maybe even win it all. Michigan’s best player, and maybe the countries best player, is a point guard named Trey Burke. He is 6’-0” tall, and averages 18 points and 7 assist a game. If Michigan does win the NCAA championship this year, it will be because of his sensational play. This team has quite a few other good players also. Tim Hardaway Jr., is a 6’4” senior wing guard that averages 16 points and 5 rebounds a game. Glenn Robinson III is a 6’-6” freshman wing forward that averages 12 points and 6 boards a game. Mitch McGary is their big freshman center, and he is 6’-10” and 250 pounds. He was the nations number 30 rated recruit last year, and he is averaging 6 points and 6 boards a game. They are coached by John Beilein, who is considered one of the best coaches in the country, and more than capable of taking them a long way in this year’s NCAA tournament. Illinois Preview Illinois’s overall record is 15-5, Big 10 record is...

North Carolina vs North Carolina State – College Basketball Odds

North Carolina vs North Carolina State – College Basketball Odds Saturday, January 26, 2013 The oddsmakers have made North Carolina State a 5-point favorite with the total being set at 156.  The game is scheduled to be played Saturday January 26th at 7:00 pm est. This is always a huge game for both teams. Not only are they ACC rivals, the schools are only located a few minute’s drive from each other. North Carolina has dominated this series for quite a while now, and this was believed to be the year NC State got its revenge. But, if they do not become more consistent and start showing up to play every game, that just might not happen. North Carolina Preview North Carolina’s overall record is 13-5, ACC record is 3-2, ATS overall is 9-6, ATS home is 6-2, and ATS away is 2-3. North Carolina and Kentucky are the two best college basketball coaching jobs in the country. They are usually able to bring in the best high school talent in the nation every year. Last year North Carolina lost four players to the NBA, but did not replace them with their usual super star class of recruits. In fact, they only had the 10th best recruiting class in America for 2012. For some schools, this would be considered fantastic, but for North Carolina, it is way below average. Their best player is James Michael McAdoo, who is a 6’-9”, 230 pound power forward that is averaging 15 points and 8 boards a game. Reggie Bullock is a 6’-7” wing forward that is averaging 14 points and 6 rebounds...

Maryland vs Duke – College Basketball Odds

Maryland vs Duke – College Basketball Odds January 25th, 2013 The oddsmakers have made Duke a 12.5-point favorite with the total being set at 138.  This game is game is being played at Duke on Saturday January 25th, 2013. Duke Preview Duke’s overall record is 16-2, ACC record is 3-2, ATS overall is 10-8, ATS home is 4-6, and ATS away is 0-2. What is there to say about Duke, they just got their asses kicked by 37 points by a team they were easily supposed to beat, as the number one rated team in the nation.  This was the 3rd worst loss ever suffered by a team that was rated number one in the nation. Duke is really, but really missing Ryan Kelly, their 6’-11’ senior power forward who is out with injury. But seriously, no team gets beat by 37 points when they are ready to play, and Duke was certainly was not up for the UM game. Mike Krzyzewski is Duke’s coach, and he is the most respected college coach in the game today. He also coached the last two American Olympic basketball teams, and he is not happy, to put it mildly. Duke played at UM on the 24th, while we are not 100% sure of their travel schedule, they probably flew back to campus right after the game. This means, they will have one full practice to prepare for Maryland on the 26th, if you could call it a practice. You would not want to be a Duke player in this practice, because there is a good chance that no basketballs will be used,...

UCLA at Arizona – College Basketball Odds

UCLA at Arizona – College Basketball Odds This is a real good game that all college basketball fans should enjoy watching. In the preseason, it was thought that the winner of this matchup would capture the Pac-12 regular season championship, and get the top seed in the conference tournament. That was, until Oregon came right out of nowhere, and beat both of them.  The oddsmakers have made Arizona a 9-point favorite in this game being played. UCLA Preview UCLA’s overall record is 15-4, Pac-12 record is 5-1, ATS overall is 7-11, ATS home is 6-6, and ATS away is 1-1. There are quite a few other sub-plots centered in and around this game, other than what team wins or loses. First, Ben Howland, UCLA’s coach is under a tremendous amount of pressure to make a deep run in the NCAA tournament this year, or it could be his last year coaching at one of the nation’s premier basketball schools. There are many reasons for this, and some of them are the following: 1st – He is coaching at UCLA, and their fans want NCAA championships, and he has yet to deliver one. 2nd – UCLA has had a few bad years in a row, which is totally unacceptable at this university. 3rd – He has had a huge number of great players transfer out of the program, only to be successful at their new school. In addition, many of his assistant coaches have also left for other schools. 4th – Sport Illustrated wrote an article last year that made him look really bad, in many ways. 5th – UCLA...
